Thanks to all of you who took the time to fill in one of our surveys. We have posted a report on the feedback we received and actions to be taken here.
Thanks to feedback from you and from members of our patient participation group, have made some fundamental changes to our appointment system.
Dr Ellen Dean is now doing an extra 4.5 hours of surgery time every Friday, providing telephone, on the day and advance appointments. You can also now book Dr Gill’s appointments in the same way as everyone else’s appointments, up to 4 weeks in advance.
In April, we implemented a telephone triage system. This means that if you need urgent care on any given day when we are open and you cannot wait for a future appointment, in the mornings, you will be booked for a telephone call with our Dr on duty. The Dr will phone you, assess your problem and where necessary, give you an appointment for the same day. The Dr may be able to help you in some cases without seeing you at all, or without seeing you on the same day.
We hope that this will make the system much more efficient for everyone and help us to help you quicker and reduce the need for “sitting and waiting”. As this will be a trial, we will only be implementing this system in the mornings.
Please note that you will still be able to book future appointments up to 4 weeks in advance.
